BIOGRAPHY
1961 Udo Nöger was born on 9 April 1961 in Enger, Westfalia, Germany.
1980-83 Auditor at the Fachhochschule Bielefeld für Malerei (specialist college of painting).
1980 First exhibition at Galerie Schönefeld in Bielefeld, first studio in Jöllenbeck near Bielefeld.

1984 Set up of a studio in Freiburg/Breisgau.
Journey of several months to the Caribbean, spending time in Guadeloupe and Dominica.
1985 6 months' trip to the South Seas; stayed on Tahiti, Marquesas Islands and Easter Island.
Studio in Spain, Cadaqués.
This period produced his first works on paper for the South Seas series.
1986 Several months working in Schloss Willebadessen/sculpture park with subsequent exhibition in Schloss Willebadessen.
1987 Move to Paderborn.
Got to know the collectors and later friends Martin and Matthias Nixdorf, who bought most of the works from the Rongo-Rongo phase of the South Sea pictures. This paved the way for exhibitions in Munich, Rotterdam and London.
1989 Additional studio in West Berlin. Exhibition in the Galerie van Alom, Berlin.
1990 First trip to the USA; working period in Denver, Colorado, also studio in Paderborn, first exhibition in Denver, USA.
1992 Studio in Brooklyn, New York
Expressive work phase with subsequent exhibitions, "Reaches", in New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
from 1993 Temporary return to Germany, studio in Paderborn at the same time as studio in Denver, Colorado.
Engaged in the work phase "between everything", which produced material-oriented works out of burlap, found wood and metal. He also worked on wood sculptures
1994 Stayed in Denver the whole year, where he turned increasingly to abstract painting. Prepared exhibitions for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Atlanta
1995 Worked for a while in Germany and Atlanta. This year produced the first works of the transparent phase. Mainly works on paper, which are soaked in mineral oil to create free spaces in the layer underneath.
from 1996 The Nixdorf family provided him with a studio in Miami, Florida. During the next 2 years he worked in Miami as well as in Paderborn.
1996 He applied the paper-working technique to his works on canvas, which become transparent through the same process; he painted the canvases on both sides.
1997 Produced the first works in the phase "Light as a Material".
For the first time, Nöger worked with several canvases mounted behind each other on the stretcher.
Renewed stay in New York until mid-1998.
1998 Mid-1998, return to the Paderborn studio to prepare for exhibitions in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and Vienna.
1999 Stayed over winter in the Miami studio.
2000 In summer 2000, Nöger worked in the Paderborn studio until early November to prepare for a solo show at the Art Cologne. In the same year he took part in an exhibition in the Coninx Museum, Zürich.
Return to Miami in December.
Here he got to know the collector Martin Z. Margulies, who enabled him a two years' working period in his collection (Margulies Warehouse).
2001 Exhibition in the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, showing the works of the last ten years.
2002 Left Miami and moved into a studio in southern California. This year he worked in San Diego and also in the Paderborn studio. from mid- 2003 Moved to Hawaii onto the island of Maui, remained for 1 year.
Summer 2004 Return to Germany, moved into a studio in Cologne. Worked on exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Vienna, Stuttgart, Paris.
Late 2004 Return to the USA, several months in Miami,
2005 Exhibition in the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, CO.
Setting up of another studio on Maui in spring, 2005 in order to get back to the roots - to concentrate on nature and paintings what was always the basic and main aspect in his work and to escape the commercial aspect of the art world.
2005 - 2011 works mainly on Maui with some excursions to Miami and Germany.
2010 in Miami he meets the swiss collector Robert Bovet resulting in an invitational work period in his Chateau Vuillierens at Lake Geneva in the summers of 2011/2012/2013.
2011 he shows the main works from his period in Hawaii at the Honolulu Museum of Contemporary Art.
Retrospective at Karl Ernst Osthaus Museum in Hagen , Germany where he shows works from 1990 to 2011.
He starts showing at Grossetti Arte Contemporanea , Milano and Galerie Michael Schultz, Berlin
2011/2012/2013 summers at Chateau Vuillierens at Lake Geneva
2014 Purchase of studio in Southern California
since 2014 working out of studio in CA and FL.
In addition to the works on canvas he works on the translucent works on paper as well as on Charcoal works on paper as he did in his early years.
